While we understand that the rising costs of pet medications can be difficult, it is very important for their safety that our pets receive the proper medications from trusted sources. Below we have listed some risks when buying from other online pharmacies that you may not have considered.

Counterfeiting can apply to both brand name and generic products. Counterfeit drugs may be contaminated, worthless (not help the condition or disease the medicine is intended to treat) or actually poisonous (cause dangerous side effects). They may even contain the wrong active ingredient or no active ingredient at all. These drugs are often packaged in phony packaging that looks legitimate.
Certain medications must be shipped and stored at proper temperatures. Inappropriate handling, storage, and shipping could render your pet’s medication ineffective.
*We are unable to approve Merck products, as per our contract, on any other online pharmacy besides Vetsource. This includes Bravecto. Merck only sells to veterinary hospitals. They do not sell to online pharmacies which calls the product integrity into question.
Drug manufacturers only guarantee products purchased directly from a veterinarian. For example, heartworm prevention given every 30 days carries a guarantee that if properly used will prevent heartworm and parasite infection. If your pet is diagnosed with one of these parasites and you purchased the product from your veterinarian, you may receive reimbursement for treatment. However, when purchased from an online pet pharmacy, you must pay for treatment yourself with no possibility of reimbursement. animal hospital
Expiration dates may be short-dated and cannot be exchanged. For example, if you purchase a six-month supply of heartworm prevention it could expire in three months.
Most veterinary drug manufacturers limit the sale of their products to licensed veterinarians. Heartworm and flea and tick preventatives are typically acquired by online pet pharmacies illegally.
Money saving rebates are only available through your veterinarian.
The FDA has issued a consumer alert to pet owners, warning them about the dangers of buying discounted pet drugs online. The FDA warns that its own investigations have found online companies that sell unapproved drugs or other counterfeit products and some will sell them without a veterinarian prescription.
There is a $5 fee for all outside prescriptions.
